HMV UK Ltd is one of the UK 's most powerful brands in music, DVD, video and games retailing. It is part of global retailing giant HMV Group plc.
The company engaged PPS to prepare a five-year supply chain strategy document together with a fully costed and timed delivery road map. To achieve this, PPS undertook reviews of both HMV's existing supply chain during peak trading, and a previous, independent logistics report.
PPS quickly identified the future supply chain needs of the business through a process that included interviewing key HMV Executives, and from analyses of sales and unit throughput data. From this we created the strategy and delivery map, detailing the costs and benefits achievable through adopting the recommended tactics.
After the HMV UK Board approved our documents, PPS was retained to supervise execution of the supply chain strategy. This work included setting up a project management structure, launching year-one projects, delivering operational systems and change, plus ongoing recruitment and coaching of personnel.

HMV Guernsey Ltd
HMV Guernsey Ltd is the e-commerce division of global music, DVD and games retailing giant HMV Group plc.
PPS was involved at an integral level at the inception of HMV Guernsey Limited.
With the increasing popularity of online buying, HMV needed to increase capacity of its fulfilment warehouse for website hmv.co.uk. Growing competition in online retailing and the need for a level commercial playing field made consideration for relocating fulfilment operations offshore a necessity.
HMV engaged PPS to examine the options available for relocating operations to the Channel Islands . Our role was to fully scope, and outline, for the client the logistics benefits and risks inherent in moving operations offshore. We were also charged with leading a warehouse search of the locale.
Having pinpointed a suitable warehouse property in Guernsey , we then worked with HMV in an advisory capacity to establish the logistics processes needed for these new operations.
The client subsequently requested PPS to provide an Interim Manager to oversee operations at the Guernsey site from building handover to post 30 days go-live.
